Health and Safety Requirements

Combination trailers and road trailers will not be allowed in the pboat parking area at anytime unless given express permission by the beachmaster where terms expressed must be followed to the word.

Boats and equipment will be unloaded in the designated areas and only launching trolley, boats and equipment will be permitted onto the berthing area.

After unloading boats, cars and road trailers are to be immediately removed to the trailer park where trailers will be unhitched and parked. Cars may then return to Caffa Mill car park where parking is available on payment of fees by phone/internet or at payment machines.

Please comply with the stewards / Marshall's directions at all times and ask for information or assistance if required..

To avoid risks related to swinging booms please do not rig mainsails at any time until adjacent to the water. Please do not turn boats over to adjust rigging/spreaders etc in the boat park, please use the beach or slipway for this. Note the slipway, river bed and beach areas are considered part of the dinghy park and you must comply with Marshall's directions and signage at all times.

When leaving your berth ensure covers, loose equipment, spars etc are stored neatly to keep the area tidy and clear.

Please move boats and trolleys at walking pace only in order to avoid collision with passers by

Once launched, launching trolleys are to be returned to the boat park or storage areas - assistance from the beach team will be given where possible to help speed the launching process of the whole fleet.

When returning ashore please respond to requests of safety crews and beach Marshall's

Competitors are to have adequate insurance, and in particular 3rd party insurance as described in the Notice of Race of Sailing Instructions,

After sailing please recover your boats to the compound with mainsails lowered where stewards will assist.

When departing at the end of the event, please observe above instructions established for arrival. Once you have de-rigged your boat please prepare for a rapid loading and collection of boats. Assistance for loading boats onto road trailers will be provided on Saturday afternoon.

If you do bring extra spars, blades etc speak to the Beach-master about storage and please bag small spare gear.

RISK STATEMENT

Rule 3 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states: "The responsibility for a boat's decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone."

Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore involves an element of risk. By taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:

  • They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event;
  • They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore;
  • They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions;
  • Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate;
  • The provision of a race management team, patrol boats, umpires and other officials and volunteers by the organiser does not relieve them of their own responsibilities;
  • The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances;
  • It is their responsibility to familiarise themselves with any risks specific to this venue or this event drawn to their attention in any rules and information produced for the venue or event and to attend any safety briefing held for the event.
