Committee
Who are we?
Until this committee was established club racing and regatta were organised by both FGSC and RFYC - each club looking after racing on different days. It was very apparent that many sailors took part in all the races and there were two sailing committees acting concurrently and independently. This led to a lot of duplication of effort and over time the idea of a combined club sailing committee was formed. This is common in many places - Combined Cowes Clubs acts on behalf of seven clubs, Port of Plymouth Sailing Association represents seventeen clubs. In Fowey there are two but the effort involved is not dissimilar.
Fowey Sailing Committee currently comprises six nominated members - three from each club. Historically this has been the rear commodore and sailing secretary from each club plus another nominated representative.
In addition to the nominated committee - who have voting rights - there are a number of co-opted members who undertake specific tasks.
The constitution is currently under review and will be published here when available.
